Summer 2018 Staff Positions:

THEATRE OPERATIONS MANAGER

Reports to Artistic Director. Must be comfortable being in charge and work well with little supervision. Theatre front of house management or similar facility / hospitality experience required. Knowledge of basic food service and safe food handling preferred. Must enjoy working with students and the public. Areas of Responsibility:

  • Coordinate all front of house operations for 2 performance venues
  • Manage concessions operations and supervise concessions teams
  • Provide box office support as needed
  • Assist other staff members with producing company social events

There will be high demand and lots of hours until all 4 shows are opened. Once the shows are all up and running things hours are greatly reduced resulting in a part-time schedule in second half of the theatre season.

Schedule: Mid May – August 6, requires flexible schedule and available to work evenings, weekdays and weekends except Mondays. Higher demand at beginning of summer, less as summer progresses. Each week’s schedule will vary depending upon the overall production schedule. Could structure as paid internship.

Other: Must have valid California driver’s license and willing to be cleared to drive SRJC vehicles.


COSTUME SHOP MANAGER

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervising a staff of 10-12, oversee the Wardrobe Department, organize build/fitting schedules, maintain materials/labor budgets, oversee fittings, coordinate rentals & supervise shopping.  Applicants should have superior knowledge of costume construction, significant costume administration experience, and strong leadership and communication skills. DATES: MAY 23 – JULY 20

ASSISTANT COSTUME SHOP MANAGER

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assisting the CSM with the following: supervising the costume staff, organize build/fitting schedules, maintain materials/labor budgets, oversee fittings, supervise shopping.  Applicants should have knowledge of costume construction, significant costume administration experience, and strong leadership and communication skills. DATES: MAY 23 – JULY 20

WARDROBE SUPERVISOR

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervising running crew, costume load-in and strike for each show, costume maintenance and laundry, fostering positive actor relationships and maintaining current paperwork. Experience with specialty makeup and prosthetics a plus. Ability to work with a wide range of personalities and strong management skills required. Must have sewing experience. DATES: MAY 23 – AUG 6

HAIR AND MAKEUP SUPERVISOR

Style and maintain wigs according to costume design specifications; attend meetings with the directors, actors and crew members. Supervises and instructs staff of 5 in styling and maintenance of wigs and the application of specialty make up. Must be creative and technically skilled in wig building, styling and coloring. MAY 23 – JULY 20


PAINTS

ASST. SCENIC PAINTS CHARGE

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assisting Scenic Charge with supervising a staff of 5, painting all set pieces and drops for each show in our season, maintaining inventory and budgets.  All applicants please send PDF images showcasing your drawing skills and scene painting experience. DATES: MAY 23 – JULY 20


PROPS MASTER

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: interviewing and supervising a crew of 5, working closely with designers, creating and maintaining budgets, and acquiring all props for each show in our season.  An ideal candidate will be a well-rounded artisan with the following skills: furniture construction and upholstery, sewing, crafts, electronics and computer graphics. DATES: MAY 23 – JULY 20


TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervising a crew of 10-12, cost estimating, material(s) purchase, building and installation of sets, maintenance of set, strike/load-out, and shop maintenance.  STRONG proficiency in the following areas: CAD and manual drafting, carpentry, welding, rigging, scenic construction techniques and production scheduling. Seeking an individual with strong organizational, technical, supervisory, and communication skills. DATES: MAY 23 – JULY 20

ASSISTANT TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting the Technical Director with supervising the scene shop staff, cost estimating, material(s) purchase, building and installation of sets, maintenance of set, strike/load-out, and shop maintenance. Proficiency in the following areas: CAD and manual drafting, carpentry, welding, rigging, scenic construction techniques and production scheduling. Seeking an individual with strong organizational, technical, leadership, and communication skills. DATES: MAY 22 – AUG 6
